Charming, suave and extremely gullible is what you can associate this young star with. He might have completed a decade in the industry but when it comes to mannerisms and his attitude, Shahid Kapoor is the same cute guy from Ishk Vishk or the mature Aditya from Jab we Met who has an insight about everything in life. But somehow all his last flicks, be it Mausam, Teri Meri Kahaani or the recently released Phata Poster Nikhla Hero has unceremoniously tanked at the box office.

“ I don’t know why all this has been happening. Maybe I should take caution about my choice of movies. But I think, also a little bit of luck is what makes all the difference. Sometimes you might have the best roles in hand but they don’t work as much as you expect them to. It always happens at the right time and you have to accept the fact that it is not always be a cakewalk. My films haven’t done well, I agree but the amount of appreciation that I have received makes me happy and gives me the energy to move forward. Hopefully with R.Rajkumar, the same wont be happening, inshallah!” quipped Shahid who is not even remotely regretting his previous ventures.
Coming to R.Rajkumar, his first-hand effort at the staple masala entertainers, total paisa vasool style, Shahid does not want to be compared with any other contemporaries. “I am not expecting anything as of now. It is better that way and I have no point of setting any benchmark as well. I have no idea about all this because I have stopped thinking about that. But yes, R.Rajkumar has been one of the roles which I have tried for the first time. Working with Prabhu sir has been a fantastic learning experience. It is a new team, me and Sonakshi worked for the first time and I play and out and out mawaali character. I feel Prabhu sir makes the best mawaali characters on screen, which is somehow his forte.I am very excited to see how people take it.”
A strenuous schedule, Shahid nailed it, given the high octane action packed trailer and the gorgeous dances that he has marved us with. “It has been a very physically challenging film. There are loads of action in the film. Is film mein itna action jo maine total apne life mein nahi kiya hoga. So obviously the role demanded me to be physically really active. Plus there is a lot of dancing and when Prabhu Deva makes u dance, he really makes you dance! So it has been physically tiring but then, the entire experience on the sets was extremely enjoyable. We loved making the film” was the word of mouth from our tinkled eyed dude!
While the dirty Dancing and doing the Gandi Baat is the flavor of the season, ask Shahid about doing Gandi Baat and he shies away for the first time in the interview. “None at all, I don’t do the Gandi Baat. I am a good boy! (Smiles)”, he signed off.
