While Salman Khan had recently admitted that he had met Gujarat CM, Narendra Modi, to ask him to make Jai Ho tax-free in the state, we haven’t heard any such news yet. However, not Gujarat but U.P. government has decided to exempt Jai Ho from entertainment tax.
Yes, the government will not charge its share of tax and, hence, the ticket’s price will significantly go down there. This exemption will be effective from today, February 2.

It is to be noted that the government had exempted Dedh Ishqiya few days back too. The movie had a few scenes shot in UP, so the exemption was made to encourage similar ventures.
However, Jai Ho does not have any such connection and officials haven’t given any particular reason for this move. It is being speculated that this is government’s move to keep sweeten their relationship with the star who had to face some flak for performing at Safai Mahotsava.
Anyway, whatever the reason maybe, Salman fans has a chance to watch the movie at cheaper rates and that is itself a reason to be happy about, no?
