It is always a treat to watch Parineeti Chopra on screen. Especially since the memories of Shuddh Desi Romance is bubbling fresh in my head still. To give an enjoyable love story which will give you a high, is a rarity in Bollywood. The foremost reason would be that Bollywood has a tendency to focus unnecessarily on being melodramatic. No wonder sappy films like Aashiqui 2 works (well, that’s another story). However, the latest Dharma outing Hasee Toh Phasee somehow bring out the required froth that is expected out of rom-coms in its trailer.
Seeming quite out-of-the-box, at least romantic stories are based more out of reality these days. The earnestness in the etching of characters is what makes these stories even more relishable. Thank Heavens that the contours of romance are becoming more real than being bounded in the throes of making eternal promises to each other.
The Cucking Frazy trailer of Hasee Toh Phasee has managed to show a glimpse of what could be an interesting on-screen chemistry. Sidharth Malhotra plays the usual, young and restless man quite contrary to his character in Student Of The Year who was more decided and composed. In a particular scene in the trailer the actor asks if he can come riding the mare instead of a car, and he is told it doesn’t matter if he comes in a rocket too as long as he ends up in the right venue.

Parineeti dons something crazier than she ever has. Playing a tomboy, to the extent that her parents emphasize ki ‘beti damad nahi bahu layegi’, it is her ‘quaint eyed’ lines like ‘hamari chemistry bilkul paani ke jaisi hai’ that has you hooked at her. In every character, the actress seems to be having a blast and that is reason enough to feel drawn towards watching this film.
Hasee Toh Phasee might rank as one of recent times’ most crazy romantic story. Not seeming very formulaic in its first taste, gear up for immense fun and great frolic for this rom-com. I for one will wait eagerly for it and hope Siddharth-Parineeti’s easy chemistry is as alluring as it seems!
