Well, it’s no wonder that our Khans, Bachchans, Kapoors and Kumars have been ruling the Bollywood rooster for ages but well, their immense popularity, fame and glamour haven’t really quite aged with time! Even today, as a 40 something Shah Rukh or a Salman pairs up with an actress, almost half their ages, people look with widened eyeballs and appreciate the oomph and the chemistry that follows.
An industry that has seen diverse pairings since times immemorial has also been witness to some unique on-screen couples who have sizzled together and made us go crazy with their maneuvers, despite a staggering age gap existing between the leads. Koimoi takes a look at the first set of five couples who have taken the leap and made it all look so simple! After all, Age and Age Gaps don’t really matter in Bollywood, right?
Rajnikanth – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan :

A casting coup of sorts, this pair was one that would happen once-in-a-hundred-years and we all have been lucky to have witnessed the monumental feat! As our demi god Rajnikanth wowed and wooed our beautiful Queen of Hearts Aishwarya in one of the most scintillating and snazzy sci fi flicks of all times, we could only devour their on screen chemistry with hungry eyes. Somehow the gap of twenty three years between the lead protagonists was bridged and all we were left with was to appreciate and exclaim at the extreme risk that director Shankar envisaged with élan. Robot was a superhit and more than that, Rajni-Ash added the oomph and masala, total Thalaiva isshtyle!
Govinda – Katrina kaif :

Govinda was always a charmer, one that could rip you off your clothes without you even noticing them. The master of one-liners and one of the finest comedians of all times, Govinda rocked charts when he decided to join hands with Comedy king David Dhawan and played the cute guy Bhaskar in the Hindi version of Hitch. But well, what was shocking was Govinda being paired with videsi beauty Katrina. Kat who wasn’t a heavyweight name back then, obviously didn’t have a choice but the bland expressions and the boring chemistry did not quite entice our funny bones even! Sigh.
Amitabh Bachchan – Jiah Khan :

He was 64. She was 19. And when they met, sparks flew almost instantly. That was the main plotline behind Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd Yes, you heard it right, a 64 year old man falling for a 19 year old is not what you see happening everyday but then when Ramu does it, he does it his way! The film that dealt with the mental turmoil embroiling the relationships and the coincidence of the people who belonged to two different generations altogether, certainly added more gravitas to the age gap issue. And only Amitji could carry it off, yaar!
Madhuri Dixit – Ranbir Kapoor :

She romanced his dad some decades ago but this time, she was all set to tempt and allure the Jr. Kapoor as she went all aboard with her ghagra. Yes, the peppy Ghagra number from Ranbir’s blockbuster Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was not just raunchy but it was brimming with oomph and the naughty spunk as our dancing diva Madhuri spread her luscious traps while we took all advantage of the glitter and shimmer and matched our steps to the same number. Ranbir’s Bunny went totally ga-ga over her, Baghdad se leke Delhi via-Agra!
Vidya Balan – Naseeruddin Shah :
Age Gap: 28 years

It was her Ishqiya that lead her to The Dirty Picture, a tale that started when our desi femme fatale Krishnaji seductively knocked down our Mamujaan ended in all glory as our oomphy, bold and the very vulgar Silk moved, grooved and did everything to grab attention. Vidya made headlines and The Dirty Picture escalated her to the pinnacle but even after having a gap of 28 long years in between, Naseer saab and Vidya’s smoldering sequences and amazing maneuvers looked more than just scorching on screen! Oo La La.
