It was the requirement of his character and so Aamir even stopped the count of paans he kept eating. For every take, he had to eat a fresh paan to fill his mouth. Also before starting the shoot he had to eat at least 10-15 paans to get the right color inside his mouth and on his lips.
Even one of the earlier pictures of Aamir as P.K. that were leaked had the actor with a paan in his mouth. As P.K., Aamir had to eat so many paans each shoot day, that the makers arranged for a paanwaala to have his shop on set at all times.
In the course of having so many paans every day, Aamir ended up creating his own recipe of the paan with his choice of ingredients.
