Earlier this year Singham 2 took the best opening of the year with over 32 crores coming in. Now it is certain that Happy New Year would comfortably surpass this mark. In fact it won’t be surprising if 35 crores is crossed too while if there is an opportunity a history of 40 crores Day One would be created. There is unprecedented curiosity to check out the Shah Rukh Khan-Farah Khan affair. Deepika Padukone is on a career high. Abhishek Bachchan is coming across as good value add for the film while Sonu Sood and Boman Irani bring on a reliability factor too. As for Vivaan Shah, he could surprise!

Moreover, ever since the promo went on air, there have been relentless rounds of all around publicity. The momentum has never once slipped while the music has gained escalation too, though one does miss a Shiela Ki Jawaani in there. Still, that has been compensated with an aggressive promotion that Happy New Year has embarked on both nationally as well as internationally.
The film is arriving with zero competition as there is nothing from the past, present or future to disturb its juggernaut. All of this would make sure that an ample weekend is pretty much on the cards. What matters though is how the content spells for the film as that would decide its run beyond the 150 crore mark. Since Shah Rukh Khan’s last Chennai Express had surpassed 225 crore in total, it is the minimum that this multi-starrer heist-musical would be aiming for.
All said and done, a hefty weekend is pretty much on the cards.
