Katrina Kaif
Knight and Day was a stunt show completely and if Bang Bang is the official remake of it, the same is expected of both its lead stars. Katrina Kaif has been playing physically challenging and taxing roles for a while. Be it Ek Tha Tiger or even her brief stint in Dhoom 3, she had to look fit and be flexible. In an interview with the actress who is all set to appear in the thrilling action film, we asked her how she preps for the physical requirements of her role.
Katrina’s next with Kabir Khan titled Phantom too has her performing stunts we hear. Katrina said, “Physical preparation differs based on which film I am doing and what the narrative demands of me. If you talk of fitness, then there are many levels of fitness. Most people, unless they are athletes will go through peaks and lows in their fitness graph. Some films don’t ask of you to be extraordinarily fit, so there I can look normal. But when it comes to a film like Dhoom 3, it was about trying to show a gymnast. Adi was very clear about what he wanted. A gymnast can only look one particular way. There cannot be a variety of ways or multiple opinions on how a gymnast will look. I was supposed to be strong and have muscle definition. That was my definite target out of that film. In Ek Tha Tiger, there was no such requirement per say. I was playing an agent in the film. I might have done stunts like jumping on a moving bus but those are action calls. If one notice specifics, in Ek Tha Tiger my fitness was nowhere near to what it was in Dhoom 3. Dhoom 3 level of fitness is far more than Ek Tha Tiger and that is something very hard to maintain. Even now I am nowhere near my Dhoom 3 fitness level. It goes up and it goes down.”
Priyanka Chopra upped the standard of physical investment in a character by playing the role of boxer Mary Kom in her recent film. Katrina too is prepared to invest equally if such an enticing role comes her way. She added, “If I bag a film that needs me to look very athletic then I will make sure that I took out that much time and did that whole process of training. Actually Bang Bang is not a film that requires it at all. My character in this film lives in Shimla, works in a bank. It did not require me to be in that frame at all. I am wearing usual clothes – jeans and jackets.”
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film stars Hrithik Roshan alongside Katrina in lead roles and will release on 2nd October.
