Healthy competition is the thing that young actors these days swear by. Be it Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra or Alia Bhatt, the bitterness of competition is slowly wearing away. When we reached out to Parineeti to ask about her perception of competition with actors, she was indeed very casual about. Slamming the reports that repeatedly claim that they are on loggerheads all the time, Parineeti cleared the air and said that they do not approach each other in such a hostile way.
She said, “The way we young actors approach competition is very different. I think strangely our friendship with each other is so nice and strong that we can tell the other person. Hypothetically if I don’t like something Alia (Bhatt) and Sid (Sidharth Malhotra) have done something I don’t like, I today have the relationship with them where I call them up and tell them – ‘Listen, I did not like it’. I can tell them what their strengths are. I can advise them on what they are good at. I have the access to it. Technically, if you see, it’s good for me if the other actor is not doing well. If an Alia or Shraddha doesn’t do well, it’s great for me, on paper, but in reality I actually get very worried. I go all my way to tell them that you are good at something and stick to it.”

Continuing with the same, she explained, “Strangely, in a competitive way we want each other to do well and better. They say, you should go to the gym and lose more weight. They drag me along with them to the gym to show me how they work out. We want each other to do well because of the bonding we have and the friendship we share. If Alia and me are sitting at her place and watching a film, when someone enters the room, their natural reaction is how on earth are two actresses sitting in the same room and watching a film together. We have never seen it before. Me and Alia look at each other and wonder why can’t we sit and watch a film together. What’s the big deal? I don’t understand why such friendships are unheard of, it is very cool.”
Parineeti and Arjun even featured in Alia’s recent video by All India Bakchod. The camaraderie between them is good and their relationship generally appears thick contrary to what many news reports make it out to be. Parineeti and Alia specially even made an appearance on the final episode of Koffee with Karan’s last season to clarify that there are no issues between them! Unperturbed by what newspapers talk about them, Parineeti maintained that she is on brilliant terms with all her co-actors, who are all friends more than colleagues.
