Sonali Cable Trailer Review: A Mediocre Attempt Sans Frills

The trailer of Sonali Cable was at most a mediocre attempt to deliver fluff. Rooted in a very basic ambiance with Rhea Chakraborty attempting to put in her best foot, the film’s story is another David versus Goliath tale but hopefully with enough frills. Though the trailer lacks in the same as well as plot, probably because it doesn’t try hard to tell a novel story. From what we can gauge, the plot is about a bunch of kids, who take pride in being college drop-outs. They run a cable center only to take on Anupam Kher’s organized cable company Shining.

I am not sure what looks good here but definitely Ali Fazal as well as Rhea are two people who must be noticed in the film. Fazal rose to my attention when he managed to showcase a palpable chemistry with the dynamic Vidya Balan in Bobby Jasoos. For an actor to hold on his own despite the overshadowing presence of someone of Balan’s caliber is commendable. As far as Rhea is considered, the girl seemed promising alongside Saqib Saleem in Mere Dad Ki Maruti but she isn’t very memorable.

The trailer focuses more on Rhea than any of the other characters in the film. What disappoints me is the lack of energy in it. It seems like a passable film but I want to give it a fair chance to surprise me.
