After the raging empress was signed in for an unusual film called Finding Fanny, the buzz for it was suddenly heightened. With Arjun Kapoor on board and Ranveer Singh appearing in a cameo, the saleability factor was upped of this Homi Adajania venture. At the launch of the song Fanny Re, the team unanimously agreed that the film won’t work just in India but beyond as well.

Speaking about it, actress Deepika Padukone said, “Bold is a wide word for the film, but it’s different. It’s refreshing from what one has been seeing on television.”

Arjun Kapoor added to it saying, “This film is Quirky and cool.”

Working with veteran actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur, Arjun said, “Their work and body of work speaks for itself. It’s an honor to work with them. The mere fact that we are in the same frame makes us better actors.”

When Homi was asked how difficult was it to cast the veterans, he reverted with, “Not at all. Rather it makes me proud that Arjun and Deepika were cast in a film alongside such talented actors like them.”

The film is surely an unusual one and probably challenging one on a different level. Ask Deepika what was the biggest challenge of the film, that drew her to work in it and she says, “The accent of Finding Fanny was interesting. I got to experiment and improvise on my mother tongue – Konkani. The first couple of days was difficult to accommodate with English on the sets because we are so used to Hindi.”

She went on to explain , “The character is secondary. What drew me to the film was that the director is so sure of what he is doing, that you believe in his vision. He narrated it to me at a time when I was looking for something different from what I have been doing. None of us thought through this so much. I went with my heart, instinct and trust. I have a lot of faith on Homi.”

Continuing in the same vein, Arjun said, “It is the tonality that makes it unique. That’s what I liked about the movie. Finding a point in a simple story is its brilliance.”

Arjun continued with, “He came to me after Ishaqzaade. I was taken aback by vision that he came to me at such a nascent stage of my career. I don’t calculate so much, but just did it on whim.”

Even Ranveer Singh has a significant cameo in the film. Mentioning of which Arjun said, “Ranveer did a cameo because of Homi’s narrating style. He asked me if he can play a small role. We shot him in half a day but it was so much blast that he stayed for 10 days.”

When cameos were being mentioned, it was inevitable to ask Deepika whether she has a cameo in Zoya Akhtar’s next, given the good amount she spent on the film’s cruise recently. The actress’ blatantly replied, “I don’t do cameos. Be it Dil Dhadakne Do or any other film.”

Also present at the event was the Fox Star, CEO who spoke about the value of box office for a small venture like this. Vijay Singh told the media, “Our focus is a testimony to diverse films. Box office is just a metric. Audiences are changing, so it’s great to promote quirky concepts. For the Indian diaspora, the film will be promoted as a Bollywood film. But there is different edit ongoing for international audiences.”

Finding Fanny is all set to release another fantastic track ‘Shake Your Bootiya‘ composed by Sachin Jigar, that will release soon.
