Salman Khan recently churned out the biggest hit of the year, ‘Kick’. While the film has been lauded by critics and is pulling off a great business at the box office, one of our readers who is a huge fan of the star has a different story to tell. Koimoi reader, (Shaurya Dhall) has been a die-hard Sallu fan but after watching ‘Kick’ and being disappointed with its plot and the lack of ‘Salman’ factor in the film, he wrote to us telling why ‘Kick’ is not Salman’s best attempt at acting. Check out what he liked and disliked about ‘Kick’.

After the disappointing Jai Ho, here comes the much awaited and one of the most hyped movies of this year – Kick. With what was called as a treat this Eid, had only turned out to be an average affair. The movie defies to be a Salman Khan film from every aspect when you are watching the first half. Some mediocre jokes and the not so funny action sequences (as intended by the makers) make the first half ‘dragged and dull’. This was well indicated by the fact that we did not get to hear a single whistle or the cheer from the audience that we are used to witnessing while watching a Salman Khan film.

The only highlight for the first half was the song Hangover for the way it was picturised and sung equally well by Salman. It seemed like the Director Sajid Nadiadwala forgot the plot and the movie seemed like going in no direction. The script looked weak and dis-engaging. Only when we are couple of minutes away from the interval, the movie introduces the DEVIL & CRAZY Salman Khan. There arrives the much talked about Cycle & Train action sequence that everyone was waiting for. The movie gained pace in the second half and the DEVIL started ruling the hearts of his fans.

The plot comes into play in the post interval section and this is where the Lovable and Charismatic star of the film – SALMAN KHAN steals the show. To assist him, arrives the much talented Nawazzudin Siddiqui who delivers another commendable performance. Jacqueline Fernandez looked stunning throughout the movie and Randeep Hooda justified his role with what was expected of him.

The movie even lagged the witty and the engaging Salman Khan that we are used to witnessing of him in his prior films like Dabangg, Bodyguard or Ek Tha Tiger. Maybe the weak script in the first half and the inexperience of the newbie director did not support him enough to portray his usual self in the first hour. The post interval portion saves the movie from the disgrace it would have faced had it been same like the boring first half.

The movie would have been much better if the editing was somewhat better in first half and if the dialogue writer could have provided some real funny lines instead of the not so funny and dragged comic sequences.

I am a Salman Khan fan for the entertainer he is but at the same moment felt that the movie could have been much better. Overall, Kick makes for a decent one time watch in small bits and portions for this festive season.
