When a film is called Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, there is a natural judgmental mentality that comes to play. But definitely a title this distinct and yet interesting will surely catch your attention. If it was another ordinary name, perhaps the trailer would have easily passed off, missed by most. But not now.
Ekta Kapoor’s K fascination is what makes the protagonist’s name funny. The North Indian, over-the-top hurling abuses vein of humor prevails in this. Yet, there is a hope of something promising about it. The perception of Kuku is skewered for a reason not made clear in the trailer but the coming-of-age harps on the crucial sin of gluttony which most humans are mildly or extremely struck by.

The trailer is replete with irreverent humor and makes no qualms about being outrageous but Kuku’s sudden change of profession and how the boy’s fluke at restaurant business becomes a hit and Kuku’s Kwality Khana becomes a hit! What is unmissable is the young actor’s spark of bewilderment when he mixes spices for his dishes. To be able to recreate Remy’s amazement from Ratatouille with such innocence and charm is eye catching definitely.
Don’t miss the overwhelming Dilli Ka Tadka, which might both be the USP and the defeating point for the film. Like Fukrey which was received well, the humor worked but the paper thin execution of the film was a technical hindrance. Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi is not exactly a promising a trailer but a watchable one. You don’t exactly await the film but it might just surprise you. Afterall Ekta Kpoor’s success rate with fresh faces is quite a record to boast of.
